Samsung Galaxy S6 Due for CES Appearance This Week

Rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S6 have been running wild over recent weeks, but how close are they to reaching a peak? It is still not clear when the device will be available for you and me to buy, but according to one rumor the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be unveiled during this week at the CES trade show in Las Vegas.
SamMobile is a pretty reliable source on all things Samsung and the outlet says that the Korean company will launch several variants of the Galaxy S6 at the CES show, but only to select partners. As I predicted last month, Samsung looks as though it will offer some details and a glimpse of the Galaxy S6 this week, but will not actually roll it out until later.
An apparent Samsung inside source said on Reddit last week that the device will not actually arrive until April, so the company may be doing an Apple Watch scenario and unveiling the product now but selling it months later.
The specs of the latest leak seem to match up with the first, which leads us to believe they are both the real deal. The AnTuTu test revealed a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display and the same chipset, which is increasingly looking to be the upcoming Samsung made Exynos 7420. Previous reports suggest the screen will be 5.5-inch, but my own sources point to Samsung not wanting to go beyond 5.3-inch to help keep a size differentiator between the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S6.
As for that new Exynos chipset, it is an octa-core processor with ARMv8 instructions set, paired with a Mali-T768. It is a 64-bit silicon that has clock speeds up to 1.8GHz on 20nm process, while it will likely land with tri-band LTE Category 10 modems. Samsung will almost certainly make another variant of the S6 that carries a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, and which handset you get will depend on where you live.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date And First Images

Samsung Galaxy S6 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the 2015. It would seem that the phone has appeared in the first image, and many people may be disappointed.

Samsung Galaxy S6 could be launched in the MWC 2015 in March, and we’ve heard a lot of rumors about the future flagship of the South Koreans.
One of them spoke about an aluminum construction with both sides on a curved display. However, from the photos published on the site Toranji.ir (whose veracity cannot be verified), it seems that Samsung Galaxy S6 will look like a Galaxy S5, only it will be higher.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Rumors: Multiple Prototypes Reportedly Being Tested, Some With Curved Edge Screens

Samsung is said to be working on multiple Galaxy S6 variants with curved edge screens.
An anonymous Samsung employee has reportedly confirmed previous rumors that the South Korean technology giant is planning a massive overhaul of its next-generation flagship smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy S6, which is being developed under the codename, “Project Zero.” The purported official source also revealed more information about the Galaxy S6, adding that the company is testing several prototypes of the upcoming handset.
Confirming that “Project Zero” is the real deal, the Samsung employee -- who goes by the username SamsungRep2015 on Reddit -- claimed that Samsung is working on at least three variants of the Galaxy S6, SamMobile reported. According to the employee, one of the variants features a normal display, while the other two are being tested with a one-sided curved edge screen and dual-sided curved edge displays.
“Project Zero is indeed a real thing. I’ve also seen two different GS6 Edge variants, one with the normal Youm display on the Edge, and one with dual curved edges,” the Samsung employee reportedly wrote on Reddit. “However, when I went to my orientation, a few weeks before the S5 came out I got to physically see the 5.2 inch version. Samsung prototypes a lot and things change extremely rapidly.”
Samsung's mobile business has suffered over the past few quarters, with growing competition from main rival Apple, and several low-cost producers in fast-growing markets like China and India.
Initial details about “Project Zero” appeared in November with media reports claiming that the plan is part of Samsung’s broader overhaul strategy, as the company was rumored to be developing the Galaxy S6 from scratch. The codename for the Galaxy S6 is also different from ones used in earlier versions of Galaxy-branded smartphones, such as Galaxy S5 (Project K), Galaxy S4 (Project J), Galaxy Note 3 (Project H) and Galaxy Note 4 (Project T).
Here are more details from SamsungRep2015, first reported by BGR:
As far as performance, benchmarks are noticeably higher but not by earth shattering amounts. Overall device responsiveness is vastly improved, and memory consumption is way down. Some build have freed over a gig of memory consumption from cold boot… [It’s] not just specs Samsung is focusing on this time around. I’ve heard lots of rumblings about crazy new designs (and I’m not just talking Galaxy Alpha ‘redesigns’ either.) Spec wise though, that all lines up with what I’ve seen/heard, but again there’s quite a good chunk of time between now and April.
Rumors have it that the Galaxy S6 could feature a larger, 5.5-inch QHD display with a screen resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The device could be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor and 3GB RAM, and the phone could run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.

The release date for the Samsung Galaxy S6, known as Project Zero, is set to be announced at the CES 2015 conference taking place from January 6-9.

Consumers are expected to learn more about the product's specs and rumors.
Samsung officials are expected to provide more information about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 in the coming days, which is said to include specs improvements.
The company released an Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 in Poland several days ago. South Korea has been slated as the next location for its release, Gotta Be Mobile reports.
Samsung's mobile chief J.K. Shin remains in his role despite rumors of him being replaced, Digital Trends reports, an act seen by many as a confidence-booster to reverse the lack of popularity surrounding company products like the Note 4 and Note Edge.
Samsung Galaxy S6: Project Zero Release Date Announcement, Specs Rumors Continue [NEWS]Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge for Verizon was approved by the FCC several weeks ago, sparking rumors a price leak will be made available soon.
The new mobile device has received mixed reviews from consumers and analysts.
Geoffrey Fowler of the Wall Street Journal mentions that "the Note Edge ends up being yet another distraction in the arms race for our attention," adding that "It just tacks on new territory to an already cluttered phone landscape." The phone has received praise, however, for its specs and flexible design.
AT&T has announced that it is offering the Galaxy Note Edge for $399.99 with a two-
year contract and $945.99 off-contract, the International Business Times reports, leaving many consumers debating over the mobile device's price.

Why Samsung Galaxy S6 Could Disappoint Fans Like Galaxy S5 Did; What to Expect

Hype around Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone, Galaxy S6, is gaining momentum with its release date drawing closer. Expectation on the device is sky-high with rumours suggesting drastic feature upgrades over its predecessor but it could also disappoint fans like Galaxy S5 if it doesn't come with the speculated specifications.
Galaxy S5, which was released in April this year, was a big disappointment and it failed to make good business for one big reason – several features, including display, processor and design seen in the device were inferior to what was being speculated.
Now, the big question is – will Samsung Galaxy S6 live up to the expectations of its fans?
Going by the reports that have surfaced so far, it seems Samsung is working hard to bring drastic changes to its upcoming next-generation smartphone with several upgrades to woo its fans back, but one still can't rule out the possibility of the device disappointing fans, like Galaxy S5.

According to AnTuTu benchmark, as reported byMobifo (via SamMobile), Galaxy S6 is expected to come with a qHD screen with 1440 x 2560 pixels, 15.9MP camera, octa-core 64-bit processor and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
However, AnTuTu benchmark of the device reported by Chinese website CNMO (via Phone Arena) claimed that Galaxy S6 would sport a 5.5-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels, powered by Exynos 7420 processor and run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It added that the device would have a 20MP main camera and 5MP front snapper, and 32GB of internal memory and 3GB RAM.
Codenamed as "Project Zero," Galaxy S6 is expected to be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 (CES 2015) in Las Vegas in January, according to a report by Korean website Chosun Biz (via GforGames) quoting analysts at Mirae Asset Securities (MAS).
Indian import tracking website Zumba also claimed that the device with model number SM-G920F will be sent to India for research, development and evaluation, hinting that its release date is not far off.
It was earlier reported that the device would be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2015) in March.

The Samsung Galaxy J1 shows up as a new low-end device

Samsung is one of the few companies that stays in the news year round, and even when they’ve finished with their 2014 lineup, there is still plenty to talk about. The Galaxy S6 has been the hot topic of late, but now we’re going to take a look at something a little more mid-range with the Samsung Galaxy J1.
samsung logoIf you haven’t heard of the Samsung Galaxy J1, don’t feel alone as today was the first word we’d heard on the upcoming device. It appears as if it could be part of Samsung’s new naming scheme as well ala the Galaxy A series and Galaxy E series. It remains to be seen how one line will differ from the next at this time, but the Samsung Galaxy J1 gives us our first look at the J series.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 goes by the model number SM-J100 and appears to be a true budget device. The handset will have a small 4.3-inch LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 400 and it doesn’t get any better from there. The J1 gets its horsepower from a quad-core 64-bit chip, but it’s of the Marcell variety instead of a Snapdragon SoC. The actual power comes courtesy of a 1,850mAh battery, the storage space is listed at 4GB (expandable), and you’ll have 1GB of RAM to work with as well.
In terms of the cameras, the front-facing snapper on the Samsung Galaxy J1 is listed as a 2MP unit while the rear camera carries a 5MP sensor. Other specs to note include LTE, and the handset will run Android 4.4 out of the box. The Samsung Galaxy J1 measures 129mm x 68mm x 8.9mm and tips the scales at 123 grams.
We’re not sure anyone knows what’s going on behind the scenes at Samsung right now as the company was supposedly scaling back production. Unless all these new devices were already in the pipeline, that doesn’t appear to be what they’re doing although we’ll have to wait until next year to see what they truly have planned. As for the Samsung Galaxy J1, no release date or pricing was mentioned, but the device should arrive sometime next year.
